First up a quote I found earlier this week... So. True. And words to live by!

Friday I loaded up and headed to Jonesboro for a little family fun, seeing friends and a bridal show. All-in-all= perfect weekend just needed one more day to see everyone I wanted to see. Guess that means time to plan another trip that way. Before I get thinking of my next trip, I need to recap about this one. After setting up our booths I headed out to Aunt Becki's for the night. Party in the barn! Love these sweet horses!

Favorite one, sorry I was bias Friday night cause this one was being super sweet to me!

Then one of the best nights spent with a great group of women, discussing an upcoming wedding and how it will all happen! It is going to be so much fun working with this group! Before I headed back to central Arkansas, we had a country cookin' feast at Becki's complete with her fried chicken!

Hello friends! In between catching up on the bachelor tonight and laughing hysterically at Betty White's senior citizen comedy, I figured I was due for a post. This past week was full of Hobby Lobby trips, breaking mirrors, greeting the UPS man on several occasions and all of the other lovely tasks that make up my booths for the bridal show. This was my third year for the January Arkansas Democrat Gazette Bridal show in Little Rock. After two years of getting my feet wet, I've decided to dive in head first to kick start 2012. The past few weeks/month has been devoted to getting Young Designs website launched, meetings, and preparing for this show {not complaining, for I wouldn't trade it for a thing}. However, now that it is checked off my list, it's safe to say I can come up for a little air.

Here are a few pictures of this years set-up. I wanted to do an end cap booth but with everyone in August loving our red carpet booth, I caved and did 3 spots. Two were together then we had the red carpet. Our end cap booth was a little flashy with a touch of my favorite color, red.

If the saying is true that 'if you break a mirror you are in for 7 years of bad luck' then I guess I have 210 years staring me straight in the eye. I'm hoping its' not true if you break them intentionally. But it was so worth it for this shot.

And my awesome support system for the day. Julia, one of my on-site assistants, Momma Mona, Mrs. Vickie who is a former Mother-of-the-bride/my 6th grade teacher and her daughter Lacey, one of my bff's and former bride. They were great and I was so lucky they volunteered to help out all day. Thanks a bunch! After deep cleaning my office today {hooray}, the rest of the week is going to be major productive cleaning and pretty boring for a blog post aka reorganizing my house/unpack bridal show stuff, and closing out the year of 2011. So on that note, I hope yours is productive and enjoyable!

Today she turned 16 and can drive in Arkansas. Got her license and is all grown up. I am so proud of the lady she is and the heart she has. She has a pretty good sense of humor to add with it too. :)

It came time to ring in the new year and Little Rock, Arkansas was the spot to be. A few of my 'single gals' and I decided that dinner at Loca Luna and then Next Level Events would be the perfect recipe for fun- and it was! Here are a few iphone pics of the night.

Then it was off to the party! As I referred to it as {blast from the past} loved seeing friends from high school, sports growing up, sorority sisters, and friends from college all at the same spot. "2009. Where did it go?
I have been asking myself this a lot lately. It seems I blinked and a whole year passed. But looking back on this year, it has been amazing and definitely one to remember.
.......
My year was so unpredictable yet perfectly planned. So perfectly planned that I was aware each day that no matter what I had decided, God had a plan that was going to happen. In the end, I was taught that no matter what, you have to trust in his plan, wear your heart on your sleeve, a smile on your face, and have no regrets, for everything happens for a reason.
I guess I should issue this....
WARNING: I am a very detailed individual and remember everything so beware of post length."

Well I must agree, I would say the same about this year. All of it except...

"2010. Where did it go?""

It still fits- so this year is "2011. Where did it go?" or shall I say where did I go...

I had no clue how to start this post. Then remembered, I had done it two years already and third time's a charm, right? What I didn't expect was to reread those first few lines and gain motivation from myself and the words I wrote when I was 22. Oh that girl, at times I wish I could be her again. As crazy as that sounds, she was ready to conquer the world and there was no stopping her. As I am looking back, I am learning from myself- as I strive to learn and improve each and every day; I am gaining/renewing my motivation to be the best I can be in every area of my life. It is a roller coaster world we live in with constant ups and downs plus inner emotional highs and lows mixed in on the ride. That's how I feel at the moment closing out the year.

So the recap: If we were playing the numbers game...

2 would be the countries I spent time in. Jamaica for a March va-cay with my sister and of course USA. The fact that I have driven on both the left and the right side of the road this year introduced me to anxiety but improved my resume for "Amazing Race."
3 beach trips (Jamaica, Destin, & Mexico Beach, Florida).
3 bachelorette parties (Nashville, Destin, & Branson)
4 the number of weddings I was in. Lacey & Brandon got married 1-1-11 in Little Rock and I had the honor to coordinate/plan Lacey's wedding as well as be a bridesmaid. Next was Amanda's big day marrying Bradley. I was a house attendant and did the flowers at her reception in May. Then June came Gail & Brenton's fairytale in Memphis where I was in the house party. Followed by Natalie and Ben's November wedding where I was Maid of Honor and got to help her in the planning process. I am so excited for these 4 couples and wish them all the success and love in their married life.
6 contract jobs this year. So flash back to when I was 22 and getting out of college. Common rule is have 2 years of industry experience to do contract and travel event planning and management. I added that to my 2 year goal then and one of my favorite moments and a high of this year was achieving that. It led into 6 contract jobs this fall in Minneapolis, Green Bay, Boston, 2 in LA, and one in Little Rock with the same company that happens to have a base location in LR. Not only was it fun exploring and working in the different cities but working with fun people that make me laugh and are hard workers.
24. Has a double standard. Turned 24 and completed coordination/design weddings for Young Designs at the end of 2011..24. Yes, 24 completely done and in the file as 'completed weddings.' Makes me feel like I have aged 5 years just thinking about it- and have gray hairs forming {kidding- but I might check in the morning}. As a business owner I am so blessed to do what I love on a daily basis. I was asked 'do you still love it' earlier this year and had to stop and think. Yes I do, but in a different way than the beginning. At times I have thought 'how do business owners have a heart.' I want to help and do and plan for everyone I meet and know- but in reality- I can't. I have to earn a living and stay true to the value of my business. I feel as though that is my greatest challenge as a business owner but it has shown me the greatest reward this year, in many ways and worked out for the best in each case.

Learned from this year, treasure it as a great one, and am able to put my best foot forward to position myself exactly where I am meant to be both personally, as a family member and friend, and professionally to start 2012 where I should. Happy New Year to you!

December was a FUN month~

Went with my bunco group to Spirited Art to prepare a WPS painting!

Festival of Trees: Business Casual Night

Worked the first part of the month until the night of the 10th on Arkansas Children's Hospital's Miracle Ball. It was a packed working week but so much joy and hope was in knowing we were all part of raising money for this great cause. ACH raised over $500,000 that evening. How great is that? I was honored to be a vendor and Young Designs a sponsor of the event. This was my second year working on it. So blessed. Here are a few shots of our finished project..

After the event I got to celebrate Christmas with my college friends that were in town and exchange gifts. This was my first Christmas event to kick off the season and get me in the spirit. To be honest the next week, my brain was fried from overload and 9 straight hands-on working days- so my brain took a vacation and I don't even remember what I did.

Meemaw and I made a last minute road trip and headed to Bentonville, Arkansas. Did you know Travel & Leisure just named Bentonville the #12 spot of top 12 destinations in 2012?! Such a great honor for our state. We went to visit Alice Walton's Crystal Bridges Art Museum. Meemaw was so excited. Which I can agree, you must visit it! MUST! It is one of the top museums in the world and after seeing museums in DC, Italy, St. Louis, Arkansas, and various other places- it is one of my personal favorites. (And one that I didn't get bored in- so that has to say something if it can keep my interest for 4+ hours) If you go, eat lunch or dinner at the cafe 11. Great food for very reasonable prices- we approved of the shrimp & grits and the Chicken Salad.

Once we returned it was time to celebrate Mom's birthday and get ready for Christmas! We hosted Christmas Brunch at our house on Christmas morning and it was so much fun. Of course at 10pm the night before, after Christmas Eve service, I decided to decorate the table with items around the house. Here's what I came up with.

Santa was good to me and more importantly I am so grateful for the reason of the season, to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and have a personal relationship with him. Along with spending time with family and friends, it was a wonderful Christmas! Hope you all had a very merry Christmas! Did you get any 'must have' gifts for me to add to my 2012 needs? November 26, 2011 my bff Natalie and {her now husband} Ben tied the knot in Little Rock! Natalie and I roomed together our last 2 years in college and is one of my very dearest friends. I was so happy to be a part of her and Ben's big day, along with these lovely ladies {and dear friends as well}!
The weekend was so. much. fun. We danced, laughed, and had a ball! Getting ready together, drinking starbucks, getting make-up fixed and hair curled- it was a blast at the Peabody in Little Rock!

Then we danced the night away to an awesome band and celebrated the new couple! Love them!!

Month of Fun Chaos

One word to describe the last month: traveling

To the outside world at times: Chaos

To me: Wonderful

I'm back home from a whirlwind of traveling, some for pleasure- most for work; all enjoyable.

Here's my quick round up for my records.

Mount Rushmore Trip with my grandmother and Dad. South Dakota was....filled with pheasant hunters for opening weekend {yes- ran into some Razorback rednecks there} and Mount

Rushmore. Nothing more than the corn palace and Wall Drug {home of the ten foot rabbit} exist in the Fall there. :) Oh and Crazy Horse too.

Fall arrangements for a non-profit fundraiser in Little Rock. Here's a peak at one.

First trip to Boston at the end of October! Great working there for a few days. Cool. Cool town. {Note to self- go back and visit.}Halloween time. Went to the Witches Brew with my Momma. Her and her friends do this every year. This year chef Donnie Ferneau came and taught us how to cook- excuse me, cooked for us. It was delicious and so much fun! I'm the witch in the back-red mask to avoid my identity. ha {just in case they got out of hand. Kidding.}Could do a whole post on everything he made. We'll see if that gets accomplished this year. I'm guess no. Sorry- guess you had to be there! ;)

Wedding time in Maumelle. I even perfected the art of driving a scissor lift and hanging fabric with 30 mph wind along the Arkansas river. But at least it turned into looking like this for the wedding {and perfect weather- Thank you Lord!}.

Then Fayetteville for to witness the Hogs beating South Carolina and off to California for the week!!! Got to play with old coworkers and work with new coworkers for the week!

Prayers still going up for the Uekman Family and Razorback nation. But I have a feeling that the big man upstairs is taking care of us all {and might really deep down be a hog fan). }

Now off to get ready for the rest of the week/weekend. Get to see all my friends and celebrate all of Natalie's Wedding festivities. Busy time during the holidays, but being busy is always good. Happy Thanksgiving week to you and yours, wish you all great blessings!

Green Bay

October kicked off a month full of travel. I decided to do a post on each city I visited mainly for keeping my records and memory straight but also featuring fun stops and great eats in case you find yourself there.

Earlier this month I headed to work an event at...

Chris and I sent this picture to our coworker Jason that hadn't gotten in town yet. We were working hard this day. {Actually we just decided to take the Lambeau Field tour after meetings and our walk thru}

Green Bay is a lovely town. We hit a beautiful seventy degree weekend and could not have asked for nicer weather- plus I loved that the trees were changing colors already! Welcome Fall!

Night one, I got to meet up for dinner with this guy! DJ and I went to high school together and he now lives and works in Green Bay. DJ, Chris, and I went to Hinterland Brewery. It was wonderful!

Day 2 my favorite lunch spot was over looking the river. Fox Harbor Pub & Grill

Then we were in full work mode setting up for the Hiring our Heros veterans job fair.

After the event, I had to show an Iowa and DC guy the proper way to cheer on the hogs since the Auburn game came on at perfect timing to the end of our event!

October 2, Crain Ford presented ZOO JAM to benefit the Little Rock Zoo. It was a day of country music out on War Memorial Golf Course. What a great way for me to rewind after September and the previous week!

9.23.11: Headed to Harrison, Arkansas for another Williams' Family Wedding! Love working with this sweet family and have had the pleasure of doing 3 of their daughters special days. We went to Big Cedar Lodge for the rehearsal dinner...

then I coordinated the outdoor wedding on Saturday.

Then we are at the last week of September: I had the pleasure to work with the Markham group and Clinton Foundation on President Clinton's 20th Anniversary from declaring he was running for office. There was a speech at the Old State house, then a staff bbq at the Clinton Library where Chicago preformed. It was a great learning experience for me and I had a blast working with my team.

I'm back in the great state of Arkansas and ready for Labor Day weekend....

BUT...

desperately have some updating on the blog to do. Luckily it's Friday and I have been taking pictures only via my iPhone = Perfect post for Insta-Friday!

Since my last post,

I got to tag along with Beth, a Young Designs' bride {gettin' hitched next weekend to be exact!}, to her bridal portraits at Alda's Magnolia Hill. It was such a wonderful evening at one of central Arkansas's premiere outdoor venues! It definitely got me excited about the upcoming Fall wedding season!

On the 19th, I headed across to Memphis, TN for Southern Bride Magazine's Summer Soiree for vendors. It was so much fun and I got to meet my blog friend Lindsey who works for S.B.M. Loved finally meeting her in person! {stole this pic from her blog too, thx ha!} Here was the set-up at Clark Towers. Gorgeous beach theme!

Living back in my hometown has it perks, especially that I am so close to cheer on my cousin at her high school volleyball games! It's her first year to play varsity and I am so proud of her! {She's in the middle of the picture.}

In between Memphis and Volleyball games at good ole' CAC, I made a quick trip to Heber Springs to help Meemaw learn how to email, make word documents, print, etc. on her computer. She is so good. I was very proud of her! I was also very proud of my fellow Kappa's and the job they did on recruitment this year! This year the seniors, were the freshmen when I was in charge of Homecoming my senior year. They were so helpful during that time and I got to know them extremely well. I loved being able to go back as an alumni and help these girls some!

After Fayetteville, I was off to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a work trip. Timing is everything in the event industry and jobs can happen overnight {which I love.} I had a meeting one week, 4 days later they had put me on a job, and I would fly out in 2 days for another with them. LOVE that I didn't have a wedding this past weekend and was available for the job in MN. I am getting into some more contract labor for events this upcoming year with them, still doing weddings in Arkansas- no worries, but I am excited to add this new addition to my portfolio. Not to mention see/tour some great cities. Hey it might make my blog more interesting to :0)

Friday afternoon toured around Mall of America and had this amazing snack.

I got to work at the veteran's job fair with the US Chamber of Commerce on Saturday.

Then 3 of us headed to the State Fair to celebrate a job well done! It was so much fun and I had a blast 'working.' I have definitely found my calling with events and have discovered it doesn't matter which kind- it is the process of execution and helping others that pays off.

{warning: this post is for my own records so you might not want to read and may consider it boring. But I thought I'd be nice and warn you of that!}

Friday afternoon as I was driving, "It's the Climb" came on the radio. It took me back to a little over 2 years ago when I named my blog. It is still a true testimony to my journey as much now as it was then. {And of course let me to over analyzing and realizing}

So where am I at on this "climb" of entrepreneurship in "wedding planning:"

Well first, I've come to accept the term "wedding planner" more. And yes, I do still love weddings AND other events as well.
My sixth bridal show booth is completed {as of 5pm today; post here}. It might be the most successful one yet; or at least most enjoyable for me. I chose a relaxed style and approach and something for the Brides. Often at the bridal showcases, I feel as though brides are bomb-barded with cards and information. I wanted to do something fun for them, allow them to relax and goof-off. So we drug out the red carpet and it was a hit! I am looking forward to hearing the feed back from attendees.
I caught myself second guessing the words "Fall Bridal Show" many times, wondering how in the world is it already August. And already 2011. And time for 2012 wedding planning. But it is indeed and time is ticking away!
Faith and trust are two incredibly big ingredients in this small business thing.
Passion was stirred up inside of me today and followed with two incredibly nice compliments from two of my peers. I am looking forward to 2012 in so many ways and am eager to get the ball rolling on some of my new ideas.

And I couldn't have done the show today without these two special ladies!! Thank you!

The Help

I absolutely loved having a girls night out last night with my bunco group. I missed bunco this month due to a junior league committee meeting so I was a little sad about not seeing them all. Then I heard they decided a Girls Night Out was in need since most of us had read "The Help." {Plug: Read it if you haven't!!!}

Which I strongly recommend for a group of gals! Most of us ordered two of them, and all shared. It was delicious and we were all shocked by how much food you got with each $2.95 bar bites order!

We all caught up and discussed this book....

Which I just finished reading earlier this week.

Then saw the movie. I loved it and thought it was very similar to the book (yes, many differences but the message was the same and came across just as good as the book- from my point of view). All three of these ladies did a great job playing their roles!

Sun-day; Fun-day

With nothing scheduled for this weekend, I was getting ready to relax and take it easy... then came my lovely idea on Wednesday {finalized Thursday around 3pm} to have a garage sale! Being the girl who loves a challenge, and task/deadline, it was a successful adventure involving greeting guests/shoppers at 6am both Friday and Saturday mornings at my house. Not to mention putting signs out at 5am. It was a successful weekend!

Then it was Sunday and a packed day today was and is...

Women's World Cup: Watched the whole game down to the final PK's. It was an awesome, hard-fought game, with a not-so favorable finish for the U.S. Congrats to Japan. However, it did make me miss playing a game that I loved from age 5 to 18. In high school someone told us you run about 5-7 miles in a game, {Probably 10-13 or so in a professional game }. I could get through it then, but doubt I'd last 5 minutes today. I might have to go play soon though just for fun :) Any takers?!
As I sat on the couch watching the game, I finally got my ETSY store open!! YAY, for bridal bouquets and bridesmaids bouquets!! Shop and order here. Don't see what you like, email me!

Another pro event was on earlier today, the British Open, so you know we had that on at our house!

After chatting with my sister last night, she informed me I've been slacking on my blog.

Guilty.

Almost a month= unacceptable

Family reunion at Mexico Beach occurred.

It was the 10th trip for the Whitt Family reunion and we had 45 people there this year. {Actually only a small portion of the 80+ members.}

1. what's your favorite rainy day activity?

Rainy days are perfect for lazy days: naps, curling up in front of the tv, or going to see a good movie. I did just that today! Went with a few girls and watched...

It was super cute and a great chick flick!

2. what time do you go to bed?

This 'time' is never the same. Lately, I have had early nights and then 1am & 2am bedtimes. So it really just depends on the day and what I have going on. Sometimes, my most productive work for my wedding clients happens between 8pm-Midnight following evening meetings or just when certain tasks are on my mind.

3. how many magazines do you subscribe to?

Zero! I don't have to thanks to my Mother and Grandmother who both get enough for the entire neighborhood :) Actually I lied, I do get the Special Events Magazine.

4. did you sell all your belongings because you thought the world was ending yesterday? Nope. I was too preoccupied this week to even know what everyone was talking about. Whoops! Guess it's a good thing nothing happened.

5. what's your beauty obsession? Lotion- cause I can't stand dry skin. And I love a good lip gloss. Speaking of that I need to buy some more, any recommendations? (For summer shades of lipstick/gloss and/or blush?? Leave a comment with your fav!)

6. if you could only wear one designer/brand for the rest of your life...what would it be? No. Clue. : /

7. what's your summer must have? I LOVE a good sun-kissed tan!!! And an Arkansas home grown tomato on a BLT!

8. do you make weekly dinner menus? Yes, it consists of at least one trip to US Pizza, if not more. Generally fast food restaurants, a little Senor Tequila mexican food, and possibly a home cooked meal down the street at grandma's house :) Or one at my house!

Summer Lovin' on this Wednesday night, which means it is the perfect time for a blog post and might as well link up with Little Daisy May! So many great things going on and I'm feeling extremely blessed with work and life.

1) LOVIN' traveling this week!

Miss Amanda is officially Mrs. Heringer after Saturday night. I had the best time hanging out with her entire wedding party this weekend in Jonesboro. Probably because most of them just happen to be a few of my best friends :)

With a quick change of suitcases, Monday morning I was off to Harrison, Arkansas for planning and vendor meetings with my July Bride, Layne Collins, and her sweet mother, Melissa! We had so much fun. Including a get-away to Branson for dinner and shopping Monday night!

2) Love that I hit up this outlet :)

The Collins took me by one of the most beautiful, gorgeous venues ever with the best view ever....Integrity Hills. It is a show stopper for sure, I had to catch my breath the view was so good. If you need a venue in Branson, Missouri. This is it.

3) As always, I LOVE my family! Here are a few pictures from our float trip last week!

This puppy went for a swim when we were getting in the river. Then swam the 4 miles with us and hung out with us all morning. You could tell he definitely does this often. He became our best friend :)

Father/Daughter Day

Monday, A was still in town and Dad was off work so we declared it "Father-Daughter Day!"

First up: Dad wanted to go to the "foot doctor" so I volunteered to go with...hehe

aka. Pedicures ;)

No- Judging-Guys: Until you get one you have no idea what you are missing. AND I can guarantee you will never complain of your wife or daughters spending $$ for one, once you have experienced it yourself. Aimee was so kind to bring us sonic too. Talk about perfection.

Then Dad fixed us lunch and we just relaxed on the back porch.

Then it was time for a little fishing around Central Arkansas. We didn't have any luck on this day- but these baby ducks were just adorable. So that made it a happy day!

The next day- We managed to float the Saline River. I'm a sucker now, and ready to go back asap! PLUS, I get the family fishing award for this weekend cause I caught one on the Saline :) Busy week here and off this weekend to head to a wedding for Miss Amanda!

Wonder what trouble my friends and I will get into? There is no telling- but I can't wait to see and catch up with them all! eek. So Ready!

Mother's Day Weekend

This past weekend was filled with family time. Which was just wonderful.

Like most of you, the Royal Wedding bug bit me. I was beginning to wonder about myself because I didn't become obsessed with the huge event until probably Thursday before. 7 days back; 7 forward

Oh. Wow.

I have debated in my head back and forth on this post, but life is real- happy and sad- and if this post helps one person than it was worth it. 7 days back seems like forever ago because it has been one roller coaster week! So here is my "quick" summary.

The last post filled you in on Arkansas's crazy weather and tornadoes. Arkansas got way lucky compared to the rest of the south and the tornadoes that followed for Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, etc. Then Thursday was exciting with Alfred Angelo's bridal vendor night in Little Rock. I set up a mini-booth as show below.

But that's when the valley of the week occurred. Thursday night. In a nut-shell, my uncle was in a motorcycle wreck and airlifted to Little Rock from Heber Springs. Praise the Lord he is out of the hospital now and got to walk out with just a concussion and a broken collar bone. Please keep him in your prayers because he has about a year of rehab/recovery period he has now entered. My reason for telling you this:

Is to be Thankful for the little angels that come down roads less traveled. You see, earlier this evening, my Dad spoke with the lady that found him. She had a friend with her at the time, who was a nurse. They turned down this road and saw a motorcycle in the middle with a man laying on his back. They stopped. Called emergency help. But when they saw him, his condition was extremely severe {without getting specific}. What they did next is probably what saved his life. They prayed. She told my Dad tonight that when they finished their prayer he was gaining his pulse back and coming to; gaining consciousness. He could see them and interact, something he wasn't able to do before. Reason for posting this: It woke me up, and made me realize that we need to look and be aware of who might need help around us, we can be earthly angels to others and at times in our life we will need an earthly angel on our side. Our family has the highest appreciation to these two ladies and know that if it wasn't for them, we would be mourning a family members loss right now instead of helping him get better. Needless to say Thursday and Friday were crazy. But I was able to sneak a peak of this Friday morning...

Ahhh the Royal Wedding!! In fact, the funniest moment on Friday was walking into the hospital room and seeing my Dad and Uncle watching Entertainment Tonights coverage of the wedding. haha Saturday, I headed to Tennessee for a friend's wedding in Jackson {Congrats Seth & Jessica Elkins!!} and then Gail's wedding shower in Memphis, once I get pictures from friends- I will do a post on it. All in all, I am worn out from the past 7 days and am looking forward for the next 7 in May!

This week has taught me so much. Most importantly be grateful. And thankful for your family, homes, towns, and the little things in life. Keep those who are rebuilding their towns from tornadoes and everyone's families in your prayers. And if duty calls, be an angel and help someone out! It will mean more to them than you will ever know and could even help save a life.

Tornado Alley

Severe weather is hitting Arkansas hard this week. Yesterday NWA {where I went to college} had severe flooding and many popular roads closed. I know even a few friends barely could make it home. Then last night, this came on the news screen:

Pretty sure- that is when I knew these storms were real. I was on my way home from picking up dinner when the sirens starting going off. Constantly. {this never happens} Made it inside and they said we had about 15 minutes before we needed to take cover.

When we did- the power went in and out. Luckily wifi was working so we had the weather pulled up on the computer screen in the bathroom.

There were 3 main phases of taking cover. The first was the worst. In fact the tornado that went over us and didn't touch down- ended up being this one pictured below in Vilonia, Arkansas. This is taken from one of the banks near photographer April Ruple's home {a fellow wedding vendor: Ruple Photography who lives there}.

How scary is that?! It was devastating to this small town. It was heartbreaking to see earlier today, as shown below. It is a MIRACLE that a handful of deaths instead of 50-100 happened. Please pray for this Arkansas town and the entire state. And if you can DONATE here to the Red Cross! They really need and are asking for monetary donation.

Since it is a Mellow Monday in Arkansas and even the University of Arkansas is shut down because of flooding {what?!} and the rest of the state is taking cover from tornadoes {central Arkansas, here we go!}...I figured a refreshing Miscellany Monday would be added to the agenda! So here goes by miscellaneous thoughts...

1) Meemaw sent me this newspaper clipping with my birthday letter last week.

2) Tomato Basil soup is the bomb.com and I have NEVER been a fan of tomato soup until this year. Campbells sure does make it right!

3) Remember just be grateful for seasons! {except tornado weather}

4) My only complaint this week: Most of you know my birthday was Tuesday. Something traumatic happened on Thursday- I got rejected and told "no" that I couldn't order off of the kids menu. 24 yrs old and they {Buffalo Grill- Cantrell Rd. PS waitress was extremely rude and I won't be returning.} just now say no? ;( It was a sad day. I even told her she could charge me for the adult sized but all I wanted was the kids portion, cause that would fill me up. She said no. Then decided to be nice bringing me my to-go box and check and saying "oh sorry, guess you were right, you would only eat what the kid's portion would be- I should have just let you get it." DUH! I know what fills me up. Thanks. And for those of you wondering, yes, I still tipped her good- hoping it would make her get in a good mood for other customers coming in after me plus try to kill with kindness. {yes, that is my life motto number 10.}

Now back to fun stuff :)

5) I am on an event high that is for sure! Saturday night, I think was one of my top favorite events ever. I got to design and produce a sweet sixteen party and it was too much fun. Don't get me wrong, I do love weddings- BUT- I could definitely do more of these and love it just the same~

Easter Sunday

Easter.

We get to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus! God loves us so much and we are reminded constantly of the unconditional love he has for us. We are human- we all make mistakes, but at the end of the day- he loves us and we are saved from our sins. He allows us to believe in Him and in the eternal life we will have. Jesus has risen and today celebrated that. He is alive in each and every one of us. How great of a feeling that is. Easter is a special day for loved ones to spend with their friends and family. I got to hang out with the Whitt side today.

Well, Well, Well....

I am officially 2-4. As of yesterday, April 19!

What a wonderful day it was. I felt so loved by all of my family and friends with facebook messages, phone calls, and text messages from all of my favorite people. Cup- Overflowed! So thank you to each and every one of you. I really am a lucky girl!

So- how did I spend the day?

Worked a little bit in the morning- went shopping with Momma on a perfect sunny day {& on a mission to get a pair of TOMS which resulted in no Toms but lots of goodies from one of my favorite stores}! Then YaYa's with Momma and Chelsea, who just happen to have an appointment in Little Rock on my bday. Perfect timing.

We had the best time stuffing our faces and catching up! We even got a free dessert in honor of the birthday girl {me}! It was delicious.

After a little more shopping, a few work errands, and finishing a few 'to-do' things. It was time to celebrate! Momma made her famous lasagna.

What I Made Monday: Banana Puddin'

Today I am linking in with Mrs. Amy Hannon over at Sincerely Yours for her WIMM {What I Made Monday}! However, I made this wonderful dessert last Friday to take to a family friend! I took a few pictures while baking to save for this post. BECAUSE it's the best recipe ever. It is one that my family adores, friends love, and is a southern comfort staple...Banana Pudding! {a.k.a. Banana Puddin'}

The Jello recipe just doesn't cut it in the Whitt & Young households. I wish I could claim my 'famous' recipe as my own, but I simply can't. Just grab you a box of Nilla wafers and flip it to the side. There you will find the best recipe!

Ingredients:

I will simplify the directions for you. Once you have everything out.

Turn oven to 350 degrees.

In a saucepan on your stove, mix 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup of flour, and a dash of salt together. Turn your heat on low and add in 2 cups of milk. Stir it real good, to mix the dry ingredients with the milk. Then move away from the stove and separate 3 eggs. Be sure you do not get any yoke in with the whites. Otherwise, your meringue will be flat. A.k.a not good. If you get any yellow in the white, you might as well start over with 3 new eggs. Not that I didn't do this multiple times growing up or anything...
Once they are separate, the eggs, stir your stove mixture and spoon about a cup or so into the bowl with your egg yokes. Stir it, then add the egg yoke mixture to your stove mixture. This way, your egg yokes won't scramble by pouring them straight into the heat. Once mixed, turn your heat on medium and keep stirring, constantly, once mixture thickens, you can remove from heat and stir in 1/2 tsp. of vanilla. In a cute baking pan, place Nilla wafers all over the bottom and the sides. Then begin cutting your bananas in wheels and cover the bottom. Layer the custard then the banana's {as shown below} and so on until you are out of custard. I usually use about 3-4 ripe bananas. You can use more or less based on your preference.
Once complete, head to your Kitchen Aid mixer {use this as an excuse to buy one if you don't have one} and begin beating your egg whites. Once they turn white, add 1/4 cup of sugar gradually into the whites and continue beating them. Once stiff peaks form, you can spoon it on top of your pan, make a fun design with the back of a spoon and toss it in the oven. Bake till the meringue is golden brown-about 15-20 minutes.

Trust me, you will get rave reviews if you follow this recipe.

I got this story in an email today and just had to share it! Please read it no matter what you believe, or where you are from. I hope it strikes a cord with you as it did to me this morning! I believe in Easter, and it is such a wonderful truth.

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San
Antonio, Texas. She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr. Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient was Edith Burns.

One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and
it was because of Edith Burns. When he walked into that waiting room, there sat Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother sitting beside her.

Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this
way: "Hello, my name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.

Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw
the head nurse, Beverly . Beverly had first met Edith when she was
taking her blood pressure.

Edith began by saying, "My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?"

Beverly said, "Why yes I do."

Edith said, "Well, what do you believe about Easter?"

Beverly said, "Well, it's all about egg hunts, going to
church, and dressing up." Edith kept pressing her about the real
meaning of Easter, and finally led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

After being called back in the doctor's office, Edith
sat down and when she took a look at the doctor she said, "Dr. Will, why are you so sad? Are you reading your Bible? Are you praying?"

Dr. Phillips said gently, "Edith, "Your lab report came
back and it says you have cancer, and Edith, you're not going to live very long."

Edith said, "Why Will Phillips, shame on you. Why are
you so sad? Do you think God makes mistakes? You have just told me I'm going to see my precious Lord Jesus, my husband, and my friends. You have just told me that I am going to celebrate Easter forever, and here you are having difficulty giving me my ticket!"

Dr. Phillips thought to himself, "What a magnificent woman this Edith Burns is!"

Edith continued coming to Dr. Phillips. Christmas came
and the office was closed through January 3rd. On the day the office opened, Edith did not show up. Later that afternoon, Edith called Dr. Phillips and said she would have to be moving her story to the hospital and said, "Will, I'm very near home, so would you make sure that they put women in here next to me in my room who need to know about Easter."

Well, they did just that and women began to come in and
share that room with Edith. Many women were saved. Everybody on that floor from staff to patients were so excited about Edith, that they started calling her Edith Easter; that is everyone except Phyllis Cross, the head nurse. Phyllis made it plain that she wanted nothing to do with Edith because she was a "religious nut". She had been a nurse in an army hospital. She had seen it all and heard it all. She was the original G.I. Jane. She had been married three times, she was hard, cold, and did everything by the book.

One morning the two nurses who were to attend to Edith
were sick. Edith had the flu and Phyllis Cross had to go in and give her a shot. When she walked in, Edith had a big smile on her face and said,"Phyllis, God loves you and I love you, and I have been praying for you."

Phyllis Cross said, "Well, you can quit praying for me,
it won't work. I'm not interested."

Edith said, "Well, I will pray and I have asked God not
to let me go home until you come into the family."

Phyllis Cross said, "Then you will never die because
that will never happen," and curtly walked out of the room.

Every day Phyllis Cross would walk into the room and Edith would say, "God loves you Phyllis and I love you, and I'm praying for you."

One day Phyllis Cross said she was literally drawn to
Edith's room like a magnet would draw iron. She sat down on the bed and Edith said, "I'm so glad you have come, because God told me that today is your special day"

Phyllis Cross said, "Edith, you have asked everybody
here the question, "Do you believe in Easter but you have never asked me."

Edith said, "Phyllis, I wanted to many times, but God
told me to wait until you asked, and now that you have asked." Edith Burns took her Bible and shared with Phyllis Cross the Easter Story of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Edith said, "Phyllis, do you believe in Easter? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is alive and that He wants to live in your heart?"

Phyllis Cross said, "Oh I want to believe that with all
of my heart, and I do want Jesus in my life "Right there, Phyllis Cross prayed and invited Jesus Christ into her heart. For the first time Phyllis Cross did not walk out of a hospital room, she was carried out on the wings of angels.

Two days later, Phyllis Cross came in and Edith said,
"Do you know what day it is?" Phyllis Cross said, "Why Edith, it's Good Friday."

Edith said, "Oh, no, for you every day is Easter. Happy Easter Phyllis!"

Two days later, on Easter Sunday, Phyllis Cross came
into work, did some of her duties and then went down to the flower shop and got some Easter lilies because she wanted to go up to see Edith and give her some Easter lilies and wish her a Happy Easter.

When she walked into Edith's room, Edith was in bed.
That big black Bible was on her lap. Her hands were in that Bible. There was a sweet smile on her face. When Phyllis Cross went to pick up Edith's hand, she realized Edith was dead. Her left hand was on John 14: "In my Father's house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." Her right hand was on Revelation 21:4, "And God will wipe away every tear from
their eyes, there shall be no more death nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Phyllis Cross took one look at that dead body, and then
lifted her face toward heaven, and with tears streaming down here
cheeks, said, "Happy Easter, Edith - Happy Easter!"

Phyllis Cross left Edith's body, walked out of the room,
and over to a table where two student nurses were sitting. She said,
"My name is Phyllis Cross. Do you believe in Easter?"

Destin, Florida!

This past weekend, the girls and I headed to Destin, Florida to celebrate Gail's Bachelorette Party!!

Oaklawn Day

Today was one of the best days. Molly, one my high school besties, and I went to Hot Springs to see the horses race at Oaklawn! She has never been, and since it was the last weekend of the season, we had to go. We made a day trip out of it, and had a blast today. Eating lunch downtown then betting on the horses.

And. Made me a few extra $$$. Especially when I won a $0.50 trifecta on the last race. The payout was over $15.00!!! {I'm such a big spender/better; can't you tell!}

Last week, I got to have the best lunch date in Conway.

With my sweet grandmother, Meemaw! Love her dearly. She was coming to town to buy bibles for the teenagers at her church in Heber Springs. It made my day visiting with her, then browsing Conway shops. So blessed to have this sweet lady in my life!

This past weekend, I headed to Nashville for Amanda's bachelorette party!!

Jamaica Part 2

I'm back with more fun vacation photos. But first a little back ground info on where we stayed. The first part of our trip we went to Jake's in Treasure Beach. It is in between fishing villages. Aimee's boss stayed there in February and told her about it. We loved it. Perfect spot to begin vacation and to RELAX. So peaceful and charming. Then after three nights we drove to the North part of Jamaica to Lucea (about 30 minutes to Montego Bay) and stayed at the Palladium Resort. We really did capture the best of both worlds. Such a wonderful sisters trip.

The pictures in part 2 start after lunch on the day we were switching locations.

Jamaica Part 1 in pictures!

Here is the first half of the week in Jamaica!!! My favorite pictures made the cut!

Night 1: We made it. And are safe at our first stop. Just a little restless from our flights.

Went to bed. Opened the door of our villa to this....

Cold beverage and extremely fresh food. As in you picked out your fish from the cooler, lobster was frozen, and shrimp and crab were in the other coolers. Then they grilled/fried it up.

Yes friends, you may NO LONGER call me a picky eater. Because I had no other choice that to eat all of this. And I actually enjoyed it besides it being a tad spicy for me.

Fly away with me on my mini-vacation! Last Monday, I left rainy Arkansas and met my sister in Jamaica for a little girls get-a-way. Here was the view over the islands!

And a first look at Jamaica! We flew into Montego Bay. The airport is right by the ocean so it made me slightly nervous descending into the Caribbean.

Isn't it gorgeous!?!

To keep me company on my flights and the first few days laying out, I borrowed a few books from Mrs. Allison Johnson {follow her blog here}.

Karen White's "Learning to Breathe" might be one of my new favorite books. I was hooked. It was an emotional book of sorts, but in a good way. And I would be lying if I didn't admit that at times the lead character reminded me so much of.....me. Oh yes, like looking in a mirror to my 'thinking' and attitude of life prior to my trip. Then throw in a romantic twist, and well. You can tell- I didn't put it down until I finished it.

Once we got accepted into Jamaica, we were on a drive to Jake's then ate dinner there.

Hello friends! I am officially back in the US of A and have had a roller coaster day tackling the to-do list that I formed on my flight. Think cocktail napkin size, then it grew to two squares- then you know the full napkin kind of to-do list {see image below}.

So. Here's a teaser of what's to come!

Posts about my trip to Jamaica- which was amazing!

Off to tackle my list and work some more. BUT. First I must say. God is SO great! With only one wedding for March, it was/is a slow month {hint: last minute vaca} and I was getting slightly worried if I was still 'doing what I'm suppose to be doing.' Been praying for a sign and well...he was teaching me patience and trust, yet again. But as always, the good Lord never fails, He poured it on since I have been away and now home. Coming home with lots stirring in the kitchen when it comes to my company; and nothing excites me more than that. Being the planner that I am, I am glad to know I am still on His plan and whatever that plan might be for this year, I keep reminding myself that it is far greater than any plan I could map out myself. My soap box to say, that no matter what you are struggling with individually, personally, professionally, know he has a plan for you. And TRUST HIM on that!

U.A.L.R. Basketball teams are heading to the Big Dance!

This afternoon, my parents and I headed to Hot Springs to cheer on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's basketball teams. We have grown-up watching UALR basketball, and have season tickets each year. We were so excited that both teams made it to the Sun Belt Conference Championship this year. AND that it was only an hour away.

At 1:00pm it was the Ladies vs. Western Kentucky!!

It was such a good game. 66-59 we came out on top!

Let the celebration begin!

Then the 6pm guys game went down to the wire. Even with us behind by 6 in the final minutes.

With 7 seconds left we were down by 1 point, then with 1.7 seconds left we were up by two thanks to senior, Solomon's three pointer!!!

Both teams are headed to the NCAA Tournament!!!

How great for the UALR program!!!

Last time they played in the conference championship, Dad took us to watch them at Barton Coliseum and Derek Fisher was playing in it. But sadly they lost that game.

Congrats UALR!

Definitely root the Arkansas {only AR school in the tourney as of now and probably the only one} teams on!!!

How to look put together?

The title is an important question.

Today, I found the answer. How do you look fully put together before noon?

Well for starters, my day started at the beauty salon. Ohh la la to be exact! Knowing I had a meeting right after, I dressed presentable- then rushed out the door to be there by 10am.

After Emily washed, cut, and styled me up, actually down {go see her! FYI- Got three compliments within an hour of leaving there. She is great and a sorority sister of mine!} I was on my way. But with 50 minutes to spare and a meeting down the street. It was... what now?

Seeing my faded purple nail polish, I figured I could pop in and out of the nail place super speedy by just getting them take-off polish and repaint my nails. $6 later I was on my way out with "Dulce de Leche." {Thanks. OPI.} Followed by a quick trip to the gas station, and fifty dollars later, I was depressed. Not because it was Monday, but because when I got my car {Age: 16} it cost $20 to fill it up and today {Age: 23 going on 24} $50+ !

{Plus I was probably richer then than now. Thanks. Teenage babysitting queen years.}

Then... I figured I was somewhat ready for my 11:45am meeting at Panera. But needed one last step to look 'put together.' You guessed it. Make-up started and completed all in Panera's parking lot with 15 minutes to spare. Gotta love being put together in under two hours and only having to pump gas and apply make-up to seal the deal.

How did I cure the semi-depression: cinnamon crunch bagel with Honey Almond cream cheese {Thanks. Panera.} Then of course my third meeting of today ended with tasting cake for a sweet sixteen birthday party which wasn't too shabby either. ;) So overall it was a marvelous Monday!

Family time!

So. Much. Fun. would be three words to describe this past weekend!

Saturday night, we had my grandparents over for dinner to celebrate my grandfather, Dalton's, birthday! The Carters, our cousins/grandfather's niece's family, came to town so that got to partake in the celebration too!

And the "Rebels" found the hog hat in the game room as soon as they arrived. I promise they really will turn into Razorback fans eventually. :)

I mean just look at how happy they are!

JoEllyn and Todd came to town to run in the LR Marathon Sunday morning! They both did the St. Jude Half in December. We were so excited they were coming to do this one. JoEllyn ran the half and Todd did the full marathon. Such a inspiration to the family!!!

{I am glad they ran enough for me too! ha}

And more family/sister time NEXT week when I hit a tropical spot with MY SISTER!!! :)

Lovely Recap

I am pretty sure "Where in the state/world am I" could be the phrase this past week. And it looks like March will be more of that!

Last week: So. Fun.

Did a mini road-trip up to Fayetteville for a meeting which turned into two and a little shopping at Riffraff. Plus a wonderful dinner at Noodles with Seanne and Chelsea. I hadn't seen them in forever, so it was a blast catching up. Then Friday, Molly and I headed to see Lacey in Jonesboro! We got to meet her school friends and see "Just Go With It." I laughed so hard at that movie. It was one I didn't know if I would like or think it was stupid, but I

thought it was funny. {Disclaimer: At times, I sometimes laugh at anything. So don't hold it against me if you think it is stupid.}

Saturday morning, I tried out a family friend, Camden's new Zenspin spin class! If you are in Jonesboro, definitely check it out. Either I was majorly out of shape, or it was the most difficult/enjoyable workout ever. Probably both.

Main reason for being in J'boro: Amanda and Bradley's stock the bar shower where I was able to hang out with all my best buds {minus Ashley} from college. It has been forever since we were all together. {Probably Chels' wedding. PS. I stole this pic from her blog! Thanks pal!}

Sunday morning it was a early road trip to Conway, Arkansas to set up for the Bridal show! Once set-up, I got to have lunch with these two ladies.

Meemaw was cracking me up. She stayed for a little bit of the show {which turned into about 2 hours} and even started talking to the brides! My favorite moment was when one girl mentioned she was getting married in August. Meemaw's response, "I got married in August too!! Just in Nineteen Forty..." (1947 I think, gotta check on that). She was the biggest help ; ) and kept Mom and I entertained! BUT she did think my booth lacked "enough glitter." Love getting advice from all ages! ha

Then today, I got a sweet treat in the mail! I won Details Weddings and Events blog giveaway a few weeks back and won cake pops from "This Cake Pops!" So glad my little cousins from Memphis are headed this way for the weekend. I know they will help me eat these red velvet cake treats! Thanks Amy!

Daddy's Birthday!

This has been one fun weekend! Yesterday was my Dad's birthday! Last night Mom, Dad and I attended the Argenta Community Theater grand opening in downtown NLR. It was so awesome. I was volunteering but then got to sit at the same table as my parents. It was amazing hearing former President Clinton and Mary Steenburgen, along with many others speak. Definitely a night I will remember. We joked that since it was Dad's birthday, the party was for him. ha

Then today, we met Meemaw for lunch!

This is still the only woman that can keep him off the golf course, even on his birthday weekend!! They are so cute together! Love them both!

Happy Birthday to the best daddy two girls could have!! He is the best game buddy,

and "griller" you could ask for! :)

Like most of the south. It snowed here last week! We had so many birds in our yard with 8" of snow on the ground. So I snapped these pictures for my grandmother and figured I would share them here.

I also babysat 4 dogs at my aunt's in this winter adventure.

Then Saturday got my cousin all ready for a banquet.

And my cute parents off to the Chocolate Fantasy Ball {for the Ronald McDonald Houses}.

It was quite the entertaining photo shoot :) Love them.

So blessed to have these two.

Then yesterday was Valentine's Day! Got to make and deliver 11 arrangements around Central Arkansas including these lovely peach roses. It was so much fun surprising former clients, friends, and a few of my high school buddies girlfriends. ha

Other than that, it has just been Young Designs meetings with clients and potential clients for 2011! It is looking like another exciting year. {PS did a post about Anthropoligie STYLE today over there, so go check it out!}

Friday Favorites

Well since the snow started falling in Maumelle today, I should have taken some items outdoors to do a 'snow shoot' inspired by this picture!!! But it is way to cold for that today. Who knows if I get cabin fever, my backyard might become my canvas. I'll keep you posted.

After braving Kroger, my cousin and I made some treats! Strawberry cake cupcakes and banana honey oat muffins. It was so much fun baking and delivering our goodies to the family around town.
But for the last few hours I have been catching up on my google reader and playing on-line. I discovered a few new favorites, so Friday Favorites is the topic tonight!

1) Love these escort cards in the white pots and succulents. So earthy, friendly, eco-chic, and other words I should invent. ha
2) Vintage luggage and suitcases are in this year for decorating and inspiration. I loved this picture as soon as my eyes landed on it. They are also a great idea for home decor stacked.
3) My favorite find. The next series of pictures. I love the barn, the inside of the barn, the chandeliers, the floral arrangements on the tables, and I could go on and on and on....But I will let the pictures do the talking from here....

4) My next favorite is the bottom picture of this wedding. How fun a photo wall with cut-outs so that guests could have a photo-opt. LOVE. This! Have been wanting to do a wall in frames and now I might have to have one at a wedding.
5) This picture. It just reminds me of SPRING! How {hopefully} near it is.
6)The Moet' Champagne ad. Scarett is perfect for it. It popped up on one of the wedding blogs I follow and I had to share it.
7) Red. It is the color of the month. My favorite color all year. And for some reason I just liked this picture.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Loving the fact that....

1) Year 1 is in the books!!! I finished all of Young Designs end of the year stuff and felt like I lost 30lbs!!! It was such a fun year and yes at times I think... I should write a book. If I did it might include a few of these stories: Secret Service being at one of the weddings, pulling double duty as a bridesmaid and coordinator/designer/owner overseeing staff, two events in the same night x 2. Getting a stain off a wedding dress minutes before wedding pictures {knew that tide stain stick was in my box for a reason}, seeing brides facial expressions when they walk into their reception and see it all set up, working/setting up a wedding in 100+ degrees from 9:00am-1:00am {with a sonic break of course}, moving 150 gold chiavari chairs by myself (never again.), setting up lighting around the ballroom solo (SO much fun!), putting a wedding together in 6 weeks (start to finish; it was one of my favorites from the year). Then a whole 'nother book could be pick-up lines on a wedding planner {or what is appropriate and whats not. ha}.

2) Majorly LOVING getting this image above and 3 CD's to browse through from Maura Dawn Photography of Lacey and Brandon's 1-1-11 Wedding! Picking my favorites are SO difficult. Warning you now: may be picture overload of this wedding. Great job of one of my sorority sisters photographing one of my best friend's wedding. 3) Trend Tuesdays are back and today's inspiration came from hands-on design playing in my office. Working on a few ideas brewing right now including the Conway Bridal Show at the end of February. Above is a sneak peak.

I have forgotten how much I missed Spring/Summer until today. The big man upstairs blessed Arkansas with one of the best days ever. Perfect. It is just gorgeous outside and puts everyone in a wonderful mood, especially me.

So how did I enjoy it?

Walked around Maumelle from about 11:30 and made it back home around 2:30pm. Yes, all walking. I got my exercise in for the month, finally. :) First stop was my grandparents house, then I was going to go to starbucks, but lunch as Zaxby's sounded better. Then it was walking around the lake, stopping by Lacey's house to say hello before she headed back to school, then walking back to my house. It was a perfect day. AND reminded me how grateful that I have a car.

Now time to get ready to attend a black-tie gala this evening with my parents. So it has been a relaxing but super enjoyable day.

Country Strong

So I have seen Country Strong twice now. I love it, such a heartfelt movie- that shows real life difficulties, triumphs, success and failure. Makes you think. Makes you thankful. Makes you cry {possibly} but worth watching. True Fact: you will come away with something from this movie. I did both times I saw it, and different thoughts/conclusions too. BUT enough with my blabbing, this is my favorite song from the movie!

Miscellany Monday

1) Obsessed with this series...The Bride Quartet

With a "snow" day in Arkansas, I loved crawling up on the couch and starting the first book of Nora Roberts' series about 4 friends who are partners in a wedding planning business. Little would I know that I would be inspired by these books, especially with Young Designs gearing up for the second year in the wedding biz. I've completed the first two, now I have two more to go to complete the series.

2) I guess I should thank Julia for getting me back on track with Nora Roberts' series. She was talking about book four the other night at dinner. Number two of my "miscellaneous" blog post is how much I have enjoyed and treasured my friends over the last few weeks. Whether it is a phone call or dinner date, I have finally had a chance to catch up with ones that I haven't seen recently or haven't seen in a year or so. This week I had a variety of meetings but was able to squeeze in dinner with Natalie, Julia, Molly, and Lesley all on different days. So yes, I ate out a lot but it was so worth catching up with them.

3) Another sweet friend, Lara, sent me this quote (we both love a good quote). I just had to share it with you all. I loved it.

Find whatever it is that you love to do (career wise) and do it! The right boy will fall in line according to the plan that the Big Man upstairs has for each and every one of us. Stay faithful, never settle, and don't push for something that's not really there!

Isn't it great?!

4) Momma and a few of her friends had "Rita" afternoon on Saturday, and I crashed it :)
Love these ladies, their knowledge and stories are always entertaining! Especially after a few 'Ritas. ha

5) I aged years today! When I took my little cousin to get her driver's permit. She had to take the written part and oh.my. When we walked in the room, I got a good laugh. It was the same room at the Arkansas State Police Headquarters that I took mine at...Oh some...almost TEN years ago???! Yes, coming on 24 in April means I got my permit ten years ago at the wonderful age of 14. Well, once I got over the shock, she was done. And passed! YAY!
We had a cheese dip break on the way home, which turned into an hour of driving around the backroads of Maumelle, and the baseball parking lot.

6) To cap off the day, the Bachelor just aired. LOVE the show. Dislike that Michelle is STILLL around! That's all I'm saying on that one. She needs to be gone. ASAP.

The New Cool Thing...

So hand written notes have always been popular and the "proper" thing to do. Well today is how to make yours stand out. I got a souvenir in New Orleans , when I went earlier this month, that I have been dying to show you.

Needing to write a few Thank You notes tonight gave me the perfect opportunity to use my new sealing stamp!

I bought the "Thank You" stamp and the wax candlesticks from a cute little boutique in the French Quarters of New Orleans. The lady there showed how to use them. A lot of stores are carrying them now and they are the perfect touch to add to a handwritten note.

Once you have your note written, envelope sealed, address labeled to sender, and your return label on {or your PSA essentials stamp- which I strongly recommend. I have LOVED mine from Sincerely Yours Online!} you are ready to seal your note.

Plus, I forgot to mention, you get to play with fire too!

Have a scratch sheet of paper handy, your envelope, wax sticks, and a lighter. Once you light the wax stick, let the flame settle, then rotate the candle on its side to let the wax drip. Like such...

When you get about a nickel size amount, you insert your stamp.

Let the wax dry for about 30 seconds then pull the stamp straight up to see what happened!!

So then...of course I had to try my other colors out for the other thank you notes. Here are some more pictures from my "Productive-Craft" time.

I got this in an email the other day and wanted to share it with yall!!! I am not a big one on chain emails, but love the ones that catch my eye. Here is the email:

Half way thru January!?

Not quite halfway through January, but close enough for this recap post {so I remember 1/2011}!

WOW. What a fun year so far. Can't wait to see what the next 11.5 months bring. The end of the year/beginning of this year kicked off one of my best friends, Lacey's, wedding festivities. Thursday (12/30) was her bachelorette party in Little Rock! It was so much fun hanging out with these girls over the next 3 days.

Friday morning (12/31/10) Lacey and her mother hosted a Bridesmaids luncheon for all of us. It was so much fun. And delicious too. Our high school athletic director is a wonderful chef and use to own a bed and breakfast in Searcy, Arkansas. He still does events for friends he knows, and he prepared one scrumptious lunch for us. Here is the Bride, Coach/Chef Killgore, and Me.

Then it was off to get pampered for all of the bridesmaids.

Then we were off to the rehearsal, where Young Designs coordinated the wedding and did all of the decor. The rehearsal dinner was at Cajun's Wharf in Downtown Little Rock. What a wonderful spot to celebrate Lacey & Brandon's wedding weekend and New Year's Eve.

Rung in the New Year with a few of my favorites {Mrs. Vickie (MOB), Lacey (Bride), Kristy (Bridesmaid)} all playing in the "floral shop" known that weekend as my kitchen :) Yes, it is tricky doing both (Bridesmaid/Decor/Coordinating) but with a great team and it can easily happen. What a memory we made, once I get the pictures from that night. I am sure I will HAVE to do a post for you!

Then Saturday morning, the first, we were all off to hair and make-up, then to the "chapel, cause she's gonna get married." Everything went perfect! AND I caught the bouquet....ha (the first time ever- should I be worried). Once I got all the wedding stuff organized, one of my best friends from high school, Molly, and I hit the road to 'Nawlins. {With the REST of Arkansas- We didn't drive 1 mile on the trip without seeing another Hog Car}.

Phone service was not fun. But other than that, no complaints {exception: the game}.

Found our seats, grabbed our dinner, and a drink {New Orleans is famous for their hurricanes and I was so excited they served them inside as well as on the streets.}
Molly and I sat with some of my family friends from.... ever since I was born. We had so much fun with them. We have trooped it through lots of hog football seasons and were so glad to be at the Sugar Bowl. Above is me and Mrs. Pam, Below: Mr. Hal, Mrs. Debbie, Mr. Mike, and Mr. Randy.

Thursday was a dreary day, but we weren't gonna let that slow us down. Molly and I had planned a "tourist" day! After lunch at Mother's, we toured the entire downtown area. It was so much fun!
